Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has advised Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) on the acquisition two 63,000+ dwt newbuild bulk carriers from Hellenic Dry Bulk Ventures LLC as part of BSC’s strategic fleet renewal programme. The vessels have now joined the BSC fleet as the BANGLAR PROGOTI and BANGLAR NAVJATRA.
The delivery of BANGLAR PROGOTI and BANGLAR NAVJATRA marks a significant milestone for the growth and modernisation of the BSC fleet as well. As global trade routes evolve, BSC’s investment in modern bulk carriers enhances the country’s capacity to handle increased cargo volumes and positions BSC as a competitive player in regional and international shipping markets.
The HFW team was led by partner Gudmund Bernitz, supported by associates Zain Kazmi and Christopher Mayhill.
Gudmund Bernitz, Partner, HFW:
“We are pleased to have supported BSC on these important transactions. Our team’s expertise in cross-border shipping deals ensured a smooth process from negotiation to delivery. These acquisitions underline BSC’s commitment to expanding its fleet and strengthening Bangladesh’s maritime footprint.”
Commodore Mahmudul Malek, Managing Director, BSC:
“The addition of BANGLAR PROGOTI and BANGLAR NAVJATRA to our fleet is a major step forward for BSC and for Bangladesh’s shipping industry. We appreciate HFW’s guidance and professionalism throughout these complex transactions.”
